1900-20 The Khalid ibn Al-Walid Mosque in Homs Vintage Framed Photo Size:11″×14″ A (cm) B (cm) COne of Syria's greatest sites, the Khalid ibn Al Walid Mosque ( ) was initially the location of a small mosque, cemetery and the mausoleum of the great military commander Khalid ibn Al Walid who led the Muslim conquest of Syria in the 7th century. A larger mosque was built in the 13th century by the Mamluks and the present day mosque was built and finished circa 1912 by the Ottomans.
