Tallis & Co in 1851, this is one of the finest and most detailed historic maps of Western Australia, or the British colony Swan River as it was also known as back then. The Swan River colony had been founded by Captain James Stirling about 20 years earlier in 1829. Unlike some of the other British colonies in Australia, Swan River was a 'free' colony. Each of the counties of Western Australia are
