Antique Japanese Meiji Era Matsumoto Clothing Tansu Chest Keyaki Wood Ikebana/Bonsai pink and blackThis is an Antique Japanese Kimono chest or Ishodansu. This chest was made in the mid Meiji era (1868 1912) of keyaki (zelkova Japanese elm) front and sugi (cryptomeria) interiors. Ishodansu were used to store precious kimono, obi and accessories. This tansu chest is made with pegged tenon open mortise corner box joint construction. It has all its over 100 year old rich patina. All drawers move easily without binding. All hardware is hand forged iron
