デュマはこれまで、労働を終えた馬や、休息する狼といった動物たちのポートレートを通じて、人間社会と動物との関係性や、彼らが放つ特有の静寂を捉え続けてきました。本作では、父のハーフサイズカメラで撮影した象の写真と、病によって認識や筆致が変化していく中で父が描いたスケッチを収録しています。デュマが幼少期に父と通ったロッテルダムの動物園での記憶と、父が晩年、アルツハイマー病を患ってから再び共にそこを訪れた際の体験が描かれ、作者のキャリアの中でも特に個人的かつ親密な記憶に根差した写真集です。版元はオランダの〈Fw:Books〉、デザインは同出版社を主宰するデザイナー、ハンス・グレメン（Hans Gremmen）によるもの。
