The backing is encased in a dado cut into the frame (ie. not stapled to the frame). We use 3 4" thick x 1 1 8" deep pine or spruce. The letters will be made from 1 4" MDF or 1 8" matte black acrylic. If they are made out of 1 4" MDF, the letters will be pre painted, then cut on the laser machine. This means that the edges of the letters will not be painted but will have a finished laser cut edge.
