17th Century Spanish Carved Church Bench underplates Hand-knotted wool pile on woolExceptional 17th Century Spanish Carved church bench or pew, likely walnut. With a scrolling slightly curving carved back, having cutouts and, on the reverse, further deep carving, the arms scrolling down to arms enclosing a curved seat which has carving to the reverse, over a figured skirt support having trestle type feet. The back of the seat features deep foliate carving, similar to the carved floral design to the sides, over a figured stretcher.
