the blade is 5 1/2" (14cm) wide and the red oak handle is 23" (59cm) long but may need to be replaced

Antique Japanese Meiji Era (1868-1912) Iron Hakari Tenbin Balance Scale Weight 15.8oz. 2" Carving A vintage Japanese side-handle kyusuThis is an antique Japanese balance scale (hakari) weight dating to the Meiji Era (1868 1912). It has Japanese writing on two sides. It is bell shaped with a lanyard ring at the top to adjust up and down a pole scale. Iron Height = 2." (5cm) Diameter = 1. 5" (4cm) Weight = 15. 8 oz With exception to some blemishes and oxidation it has a nice aged patina, it remains in very good functional condition.
