It originates from Jiangsu province, or possibly neighbouring Anhui, and features fine carvings in deep relief set within geometric patterns. The various large carvings show various characters and scenes from Chinese mythology, smoothly finished and wonderfully detailed. These are in a deep, dark brown, and would once have been
