First shell with a design incorporating a sailing ship with billowing sails and clouds behind the ship, with a dimpled background, the top designed with five petals that extend outward, marked on the bottom "1944 (date) 105 MM M14 TYPE 1 LOT EME 4 7 EMCO" along with a manufacturer's mark on the outer ring, and "LOP 3 22 44 M1B1A2" on the inner ring, measuring 118 mm in diameter at the base x 355 mm
