Constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse consisting of a crossed pickaxes, overlaid by a raised NSDAP style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse with an inscription of FR VERDIENSTE IM GRUBENWEHRWESEN (FOR MERIT IN MINE RESCUE), unmarked, measuring 35. 05 mm in diameter, weighing 17. 5 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
