Germany, Wehrmacht. A 1939 Iron Cross I Class, Screw Back Version certificate_of_authenticity joined the Royal Engineers as(Eisernes Kreuz 1939 I. Klasse). Reinstituted 1 September 1939. (1939 1945 issue). A Cross Patte of multi piece construction, screwback version with rear plate, with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver border, the obverse with a raised central mobile swastika with the re institution date 1939 in raised numbering on the lower arm, measuring 44. 64 mm (w) x 44. 44 mm (h), weighing 21. 7 grams, in better than very fine condition.
