It is believed that this mid-size medal (29 mm) was presented to local dignitaries
and at the same time received a message from the rear that I was not to cross the Canal and was to withdraw any of my troops which had crossed

Naming is engraved, with the latter part of the regiment naming having worn off. Dark patina, edge wear, extensive pitting, bruised, replacement ribbon, fair. Footnote: Thomas Froud is also entitled to the Sudan Medal, with the 17th C. Devonport.
