Instituted October 31st, 1841. Consisting of an eight pointed star with five multi faceted quills per arm, the obverse with a white enameled Maltese Cross with rays emanating from the center of the cross in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, with a central blue enameled medallion bearing the bust of St. Sylvester in gilt, surrounded by a broad gilt ring inscribed Sanc.
