Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon tri fold ribbon, the obverse with a monogram of Kaiser Wilhelm I, the reverse with an inscription of KRIEGER VERDIENST (WARRIOR MERIT), within a laurel wreath joined together at the bottom by a ribbon, unmarked, measuring 25. 10 mm in diameter, weighing 8. 1 grams, in near
