Germany, Wehrmacht. A 1939 Grand Cross Of The Iron Cross By Deutsche Goldschmiedekunst-Werkstätten United Republic of Naming on the three WWI(Grokreutz des Eisernen Kreuzes 1939). Instituted 1 September 1939 by A. H. (1939 1945 Issue). This is an extremely rare and well preserved example of a 1939 Grand Cross of the Iron Cross, presenting as a Cross Patte constructed of a black onyx core within a ribbed platinum frame. The obverse bears a central mobile swastika, constructed of a separate piece of black onyx fastened to the main body of the core, with an engraved reinstitution date of 1939
