They were quickly signed by DGC and released their debut, self titled album, informally known as the Blue album due to its blue cover, in 1994. The world was still coming down from grunge and was a few years away from the pop punk takeover, and so Weezer offered an alternative: fuzzed out, pop influenced songs written and played by quirky nerds. The Blue album, which was
