Germany, Imperial. A Letter Opener, with Lion Head Signet Pommel, by Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie. United Republic of A Stenographer’s Association Merit Pin(Briefffner). A rare and high quality letter opener, measuring 29 cm in total length. It features a 16 cm long, nickel plated, magnetic steel blade, with a makers mark in the form of the classic knights helmet logo of Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie, Solingen visible on the obverse ricasso. The blade sits securely within a multi piece hilt style hand, with a gilded brass backstrap bearing raised arabesque imagery and culminating in a detailed lions head.
