France, Colonial Somaliland. An Order Nichan El-Anouar, Officer, C.1930 Newly Listed two weeks after the D-Day(Arabic: Order of the Light). Instituted 1887 by Mahmed ben Mohammed Sultan of Tadjourah. A ten pointed silver star with a gilt star in each quadrant, obverse centre presenting a silver star on a blue enameled background, gold Arabic characters on red enameled band, measuring 52 mm (w) x 78 mm (h inclusive of crown suspension with horizontally pierced ball suspension adorned by upward facing crescent moon), on period first pattern ribbon, very fine.
