Constructed of silver plated brass, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a bow tie ribbon, topped by a German State Crown, with a central multi coloured enameled square checkered insignia on a ribbed field, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse applique in place, with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked,
