Instituted on October 18, 1861 by King Wilhelm I. (Issued 1867 1918). A Gold cross pattee with white enameled arms, the obverse with a circular central medallion in Gold depicting the Royal Prussian crown, surrounded by a light blue enameled ring, inscribed Gott Mit Uns" (German God with Us) in Gold lettering, the reverse with a circular central medallion depicting the royal cipher of King William I in Gold,
