the arms of the obverse and reverse have raised graduated edges
as he was wounded in the knee by a splinter while diving into a trench
along with a cancelling punch placed through it to the right of his head
Germany, Heer. A Set of Cavalry/Reconnaissance Major Shoulder Boards Hold The regiment was originally raised(Heer Schulterklappen fr einen Major der Kavallerie). A matching set of Heer Cavalry Reconnaissance Major shoulder boards, each constructed of golden yellow wool with rigid card stock cores and topped by four bands of interwoven silver aluminum wire piping, both unmarked and measuring 35 mm (w) x 110 mm (l), each board demonstrates evidence of removal of a pip or branch device, in near extremely fine condition.
