Het is gedateerd rond 1440 na Chr. Dit type helm was gangbaar in Noord Itali, maar werd ook in heel Europa gedragen. De barbute is een type sallet dat is ontwikkeld zodat de drager aan de helm geen malien camail of andere nekbeschermer hoeft te dragen. Barbutes werden al vanaf begin 15e eeuw ontwikkeld. Dit type barbute
