Each is based on a drawing from Pennell's sketchbook and is fabricated from kiln fired, stoneware paperclay, then hand painted in underglaze washes and fired multiple times to create a gritty, illustrative quality. This work is hollow built, making it lighter weight than a typical stoneware sculpture. Matte finish
