When it has dried and is gessoed the artist applies a white joint compound mixture which when dried quickly will create a beautifully cracked surface. The artist covers the surface with encaustic wax ( bees wax ) which after the cracks are darkened makes a smooth blended surface. The figures are cut out of cedar wood and wrapped with patina blue or fired copper. They are then attached to a textured
